It Begins!

 Hi Friends,

Welcome to my first EVER blog. I will share with you a new adventure I decided to step into this year in order to retake a past passion of mine. I used to run, I was a passionate runner when life and work schedule would allow it. I have been apart of the popular culture and have a few 5Ks, 10Ks, Half Marathons and Marathons under my belt but not a Virtual Run. Nothing extreme, no 1st place medals or world breaking records, just a few medal that can easy be used to decorate a Christmas tree.

When I first started running, a little over 20 years (long time ago)... eek!  I just liked running, I didn't know why I did it, I just knew I love it. I loved how my foot hit the asphalt every step I took and having the wind hit my face. A few years back while reading The Rise of Superman by Steven Kotler, I realized that what I was feeling or loved feeling was Flow. You may ask; flow? the best way to define Flow is by using the creator's definition, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi defines it as: "Flow is a state of mind in which a person becomes fully immersed in an activity".  I hope to encounter Flow during this new process.

As the world has updated itself with almost making everything digital aka virtual, I decided to register myself to a Virtual Run Challenge of 300 Miles. I hope to keep you posted on how I achieve my projection through this challenge because I, myself have no idea what I got myself into.

Back to Why...

So the attractive Seashell Medal along with its pretty sea creature pins had caught my eye. I contemplated it as I continue to scroll through my social media. I put my phone down thinking I had brushed the thought away, nope, it was still there.  I went back to my phone thinking it wouldn't come back on my feed and told myself that if it was gone it was a sign. Well, it was there! I clicked on the image for more information and I read through the page. Along with the Under the Sea  challenge, the Virtual Running Club offers other races of all types of distance like a Sesame Stree t 100 mile run, All 90's 90 mile, My Little Pony/Rainbow Retro Run and many more. Looking through the options I didn't think twice about it, I have done 5Ks, 10Ks, 1/2 Marathons and Marathons but nothing like a virtual run or a challenge. This is a 300 mile challenge! Why didn't I pick another type of mile challenge like the 90 mile, or 100 mile to start? It was the medal, the medal made me ...

Cont. of My FBF

I wanted to share a bit more of my small experience and hopefully inspire you if you are thinking of becoming a beginner of anything. Leading up to the school year 1998-1999 and my participation in the Los Angeles Marathon, the only running I did was running from bullies, in P.E. and when I was in track & field during junior high. Little did I know that running would grow to be a passion of mine. Running 1 mile, 6, 13 or 26.2 miles isn't easy, it takes a lot of training and focus. The Students Run LA program helped many students like me prepare to endure each mile while participating in different races throughout the region. I got to see cities and places I had never visited in my own city as a teenager, as a teen I can tell you it is a unique affect and still is to see how the cities have grown.  Through that experience I also learned what the human body is capable of, our bodies are magical. It has an undefined endurance and can be pushed passed its limit. Our body is...

My Virtual Run Challenge - Under the Sea

The virtual run I signed up for is called Under the Sea Challenge  a 300 mile challenge through Virtual Running Club. The Virtual Running Club host both Virtual Races & Virtual Challenges. A percentage of all the registrations are donated to charitable groups. Some organization they donate to are, Make a Wish Foundation Sierra Club, Sesame Workshop, Wander Project, National Park Foundation and Denali Education Center of Alaska What is the difference between the two? Well, a virtual race needs to be completed by the given date range. The location and when you complete it, it is up to you. A virtual challenge, is a goal you commit to complete. Your are rewarded for meeting each milestone. For example the shell metal displayed, the are small pins on the ribbon, those pins represent each milestone in the challenge.  Mileage you accumulate can be used for different runs you sign up for and make your own rituals . I have 1 year to complete my challenge, I can go at my pace, run,...
